Whilst Tara our Head Keeper was over in Pets Corner on Saturday she could hear the tiny calling sounds of a duckling. A duckling was soon discovered outside the Otter enclosure, a potentially dangerous place for them to be. Otters will eat small birds. Mum was then found with her brood sitting tight in a bush just outside the otters gate. Luckily mum and ducklings decided to make a move later on in the day and we were able to guide them to the safety of one of the duckling pens. If we do not intervene most of the ducklings would sadly get picked of by predators. Here is a photo of the happy family, seven ducklings in total. These are the first of many that we will have this year.
