Three weeks to go and Seaview is on a roll getting ready to open the ranch for the 2015 season.  New creative ideas are buzzing , new recruitment, new animals about to arrive, new installations , new opened up spacious enclosures, new chef Charlie with a fantastic new menu that has the WOW factor, a new surprise encounter about to be announced, a new harbour scene, a new marketing brand and a new website to be unveiled in April….  Phew…..

Countdown to Opening

The countdown is on…. four weeks to opening the ranch up again for the 2015 season on Saturday March 21st…..

The Team are busy recruiting, training, preparing new areas that have had a major re-vamp this winter and everywhere gets a new lick of fresh paint before we open the doors.



Last year at opening it was just like the ‘ harrods sale ‘ so fingers crossed for a successful re-launch.

Flamingo Conservation

Fantastic meeting on site with Slimbridge Wetlands Trust today. We had our very first flock of Chilean Flamingos from Slimbridge over 40 years ago! An exciting conservation project in the pipeline... watch this space ! http://www.wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/slimbridge/

Penguin breeding season is on a roll….

This time of the year is messy chaos at the penguin enclosure.   The keeper team carefully build the penguin nests by putting a brick area in each nesting cave and line the inside out with fresh clean hay.  Then the mayhem starts!  Penguins love to steal each others nesting material.  Once a penguin leaves the cave the sneaky penguin waddles as fast as he can into another cave to pinch the fresh hay and rush back to his cave without being caught!  It’s hilarious to watch… 

If caught, there is a stand off and a squabble and the naughty penguin is sent packing very quickly!  After a while things settle down when the female is ready to lay her first egg and the nest is built to their exact standard!



Our first penguin egg of 2015 was laid yesterday on Valentines Day!
