Update on our Chilean Flamingos
It has been a very busy few weeks at the Chilean Flamingo enclosure with lots of new chicks appearing!
Once they hatch, the chicks spend the first part of their lives on the nest with their parents feeding on a substance called "crop milk" which comes from the parents' upper digestive tract.
As soon as they are able to stand and walk however, they begin to venture into the outside world. The chicks will usually all gather together in creches that are watched over by a few of the adult birds.
Our chicks are growing fast and gaining in confidence every day and many of them can be seen out exploring the enclosure!
