WALKING FESTIVAL LAUNCH – A GREAT DAY!

This Saturday (7th May) we hosted and celebrated the launch of the 13th IOW Walking Festival here at Seaview Wildlife Encounter! Thank you to all of our visitors for joining us on this special day! There was a great atmosphere – with various interesting stalls, events and activities. Exhibitors included the IOW Council (organisers of the Walking Festival), Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust, Frank Heap the wood-turner/carver and conservationist, IOW Campers, ViewRanger, Eco Island and Wight Outdoors.

Special happenings on the day included Dippy making a special celebrity appearance to launch the start of the Walking Festival at midday; two guided walks in the Park; Glyn Taylor and Paul Topping of IOW radio broadcasting live; face-painting; Hook-a Duck and live music by Joe Staunton. The day ended with the judging of a fun fancy-dress for youngsters who had taken the time and trouble to dress up as Penguins (they were all fantastic!)

Below is a collage of some of the day’s images taken by Steve Collins, photographer for the IOW Council, who kindly forwarded these on to us!
